RT 224 & Carbon Limestone Road

Mahoning Township, PennsylvaniaFeb 11, 20190 Comments

Going west on RT 224 a mile away before the PA/OH line, on the left is Carbon Limestone Road. About 100 yards past Carbon Limestone Road, there is a gun store called Lone Wolf Guns. The Police sit back about 50 feet back in the entrance to their parking lot. You can’t see them because of shrubs on each side of the entrance. They drive a dark gray Ford Taurus and recently the TWP just purchased a dark gray Chevy Caprice. They sit there mostly during the morning hours and in the late afternoon. They painted two white lines across 224. Looks like they were painted with a paint brush. The speed limit is 45. They sit there often as to speed trap people for speeding as they are a small department. Very lucrative. Beware.

Going west on Rt. 422 going towards Ohio, As soon as you pass a bar on the right called The Branding Iron on the left, about an 8th of a mile on the left is Harbor Village Drive. Before you get to Harbor Village Drive, you enter Mahoning Township. The PD sit back about 40 feet from 422 clocking people. Usually in the evening hours. There are 2 freshly white painted lines going across the road. The distance between the white lines is 100 feet. If you’re going east or west on 422 heading in or out of Mahoning Township, you cannot see them sitting there because of a thick row of trees on each side of the Drive. Also right at the beginning of this speed trap is construction zone with a sign flashing a white light saying Active Construction Zone When Lit. This mean double the costs for traffic citations. This Department has an officer who is well known by name for traffic citations on this stretch of 422 in this township. This Department drives gray Police vehicles. A Ford Taurus and a Ford Explorer. They also have an older white Ford Explorer the Chief usually drives. This stretch of 422 is a cash cow for them as this is a small department. Drivers Beware.
