Route 61 through Port Clinton

Port Clinton, PennsylvaniaJul 06, 20100 Comments

The speed limit on route 61reduces down to 35 m.p.h. as you travel through the no light town of Port Clinton. Whenever the locals need to drum up some revenue, they just pull someone over. It’s like fishing in a bucket. The reduction is well posted, but it’s impossible to drive that slow on a four lane highway.

Route 61 between Port Clinton and Leesport

Wow..what can I say. I cant blame the cops for targeting Route 61, but you gotta watch out. The speed limit for most of the way is 55 mph, but in certain towns it drops to 35-45 mph, and thats where they get you. There’s even a sign on Rt 61 North between the I-78 interchange and Port Clinton saying "Warning: Targeted Patrol Area" Its not uncommon to travel this stretch of road and see 3-4 cop cars sitting along it. Near Leesport, they’ve even got police interceptor Camaros. I honestly dont think you should go any faster than 65 on this road, not because of the police presence, but its just a BAD ROAD.
