Reading City Police regularly obtain the cooperation of a PA State Trooper to use State Police Radar, not authorized for use by the Reading City Police, to obtain the speed of vehicles crossing the Bingaman Street Bridge, which is posted at 25 mph. The Reading City Police then issue a citation on "information received". The PA State Trooper is listed on the citation as the witness and does appear in Court to testify. The PA State Trooper has no interest in the citation as it is a Reading City Police Citation.

State Route 222 near State Route 183

One or more, sometimes up to 4 or 5, Northern Berks Police will sit on the grassy hill parts of the Rt. 183 exits off of Route 222 . They take turns timing cars and will follow in suit. I’ve do the speed limit within 5 and they won’t pull you over, otherwise you WILL get a ticket, and the local fines are ridiculous.

Interstate 176 near State Route 10

Reading, PennsylvaniaDec 17, 20040 Comments

Traveling southbound on 176 watch your speeds as you pass the exit to Rt 10 on the right. Unmarked state tropper seen holding radar gun in the tall grass right behind the small hill on the right. My radar detector went off and saved me. A lot of people speed on 176 in the morning to head to work on time, and needless to say I had to be a few minutes late because of all the activity this morning. There were two other people pulled over within 2 miles of this point. 1 a marked state trooper, and the other was a pain old silver unmarked with a magnetic police light above the drivers window.

Schuylkill Avenue near Route 12/Glenside Elementary School

Reading, PennsylvaniaNov 05, 20040 Comments

A Plain Car will sit between Route 12 West and 12 East on Schuylkill Avenue. The car has the trap set with two cables laid across the road. The Reading City Police are sitting at a parking lot at exit 12 East. The plain car communicates to the police speeds of cars and every car over the 15 mph in the school zone gets pulled over.
