Johnston, Rhode Island Speed Traps

They sit under the 295 bridges with Laser. Usually on the East bound side, but are seen on both sides. With the current construction in the area, they are located in any parking lot from Situate town line, to the Attwood ave light at the town hall. Note: they have a town traffic court.

It’s a 2 lane wide country road, but has a 25mph speed limit, which is strictly enforced, with a couple hills. Other cars will tailgate, avoid the road if possible!

Cop stands in the middle of the street with laser and hides his car near some woods and on someone’s front lawn. The house he hides near is a small one story stone house. Speed limit on this road is 30 mph. A horse farm is across the street.

heading towards the schools speed limit drops to 20mph from 35 mph coming around a curve and heading down hill. it’s very hard to slow to this speed even braking all the way down the hill!

If traveling east on Route 6a in Johnston, and you do not encounter the trap under the 295 overpass described in a previous post, Beware! The speed limit in that area quickly drops from 35 to 25. There is a nearly vacant strip mall about 1/2 mile beyond the 295 overpass, on the right when heading eastbound on Rt 6, and that is where you will find them, hopefully before it’s too late.
