Route 7 south as you pass the 295 South and then the 295 North exits. If you are continuing on Route 7 South, Smithfield PD frequently sits in the REMAX parking lot. The speed limit is 35 even though you are coming down a hill on a highway that can handle 60 easily…I mean coasting, you will hit 60.

When exiting from Route 295 to Route 7 (going south toward North providence,) at the end of the exit ramp there is a speed trap, parked in drive of Realtor on right. Speed goes to 35 from the highway speed. Also catches drivers coming down route 7 which goes from two lanes to one lane after overpass where the above exit come onto route 7.

As the highway is set up with access to both North and South routes (to police and authorized vehicles only) on any given day, but mostly on mornings and evenings (rush hours and just before and after) there are state cops, Smithfield Cops, and Lincoln Cops. They hide behind bushes and in Lulls. I have also seen them pulled over in the breakdown lane in unmarked cars..
