Rt.1 east of McDonalds

Located just east of Woody Hill Rd. on the north side of Rt.1. Placed to catch south-bound drivers that don’t slow from 50mph to 40mph. Especially busy on week-end afternoons and nights. Very busy in the summer, sporadic in the winter/spring. Very dark parking spot; you won’t see the cruiser until it’s too late.

State Route 78

Mostly in the summertime with the increased tourist traffic. It’s common to see a cop parked down the embankment after exit 5 on the westbound side (heading towards CT). A few times I have seen them with their lights completely off. Also, watch on the Eastbound side after exit 3, towards the Rt. 1 end. I haven’t seen too many cops set up speed traps during the day since the traffic is too slow to even come close to the speed limit.

Airport Road near Westerly Airport

There is usually a cop waiting in a dirt driveway after the Maxin building. They’re not visible to the side heading out to Rt 1, and only give a last minute visual for people heading toward the beaches. Also watch out in the tennis court parking lot or the dirt driveway just outside the courts at night. The new construction along that road is limiting their hiding spots, but the new police station right next to the airport is probably not going to help the matter any.

Airport Road

Westerly, Rhode IslandJul 01, 20010 Comments

As you exit Route 1, you pass the soccer field on the left, notice the road turning left, about 200 Fort ahead. There may be a Westerly Police Cruiser or two, parked on the right side of the road in a dirt turnaround, especially with beach traffic. Thats not it, there is going to be one up on the left by the entrance to the airport on the left about 400 Fort down the road, and after you pass the tennis courts, and the O’lean Center, there will be a road on the leFort 50 Fort after that on the left, there will be another dirt turnaround, there may be one or two there.
