Anywhere along Hwy.21 from Beaufort to Fripp Island there are always Sheriff patrol cars. They hide in parking lots,side roads and empty business parking lots. Watch the speed limit changes especially through Frogmore. Also in the school zone at St. Helena Elementry School. The speed limits drop 10 miles an hour quickly in those areas.

Parris Island Gateway is 45mph until you reach the traffic light for Broad River Boulevard and it drops to 35mph until it reaches the US 21 intersection.

The posted limit for most of Broad River Blvd. is 45 mph. Before you reach Rt. 280, the limit drops to 35 and the man is usually parked on the left side facing traffic. The road bends a bit just after the 35mph sign, which gives him a spot just out of view until it’s too late.

US Highway 21 near Fripp Is. Bridge

When you depart Fripp Is. You must stop at Guard Gate. you then start crossing the Fripp Is. Bridge. As you depart the Bridge you see a 45 MPH sign. You then see Patol cars backed off the Highway on left side. They then stop you and tell you the Bridge is 25 MPH and then write you a ticket for going 15 or more miles over the speed limit.

Ribaut Road near Port Royal Road

Ribaut Rd runs from Beaufort County court house through Port Royal all the way to Parris Island and Police in both cities strictly enforce speed limits on all the roads. Watch your speed from Hwy 21 & Parris Island Gateway that becomes Ribaut Rd and on Highway 170 going to Hilton Head. Beaufort County Sheriff, Highway Patrol and Police use unmarked cars and SUV’s so beware.
