Bonneau, SC is a small town on US Hwy 52 between Moncks Corner and St. Stephen. The speed limit is 45 mph. During the day, into the late evening a patrolman cruises up and down the length of the town limits waiting for unsuspecting speeders. This is a 4 lane highway going through a town with no traffic light. An article was written about this in the Post and Courier. They issue $232 "failure to obey traffic laws" tickets to speeders, not speeding tickets. If you show up to court, the ticket is reduced to only $200. There should be a law against it!

Speed limit drops from 55 mph to 45 as you enter the "town" of Bonneau. Town cop will either be stationary or mobile. Bonneau is just one of the many towns along US 52 between Charleston and Florence that uses artifically low speed limit enforcement to generate revenue.
