Conway, South Carolina Speed Traps

Trap is on 544 north on the wide open bridge just above intersection of 707 near Socastee. posted at 45 mph with few signs. When turning north onto 544 from north on 707, the 45 mph sign is on your right while you are clearing traffic from the left. A real gotcha!! Conway police are ticket churners.

Usually during holiday times and Friday’s and Saturday’s. There will be multiple highway patrol vehicles sitting in between the east and westbound lanes just as you come around a bend in the road after a bridge. They face the east bound traffic. You cannot see them until it is too late. Speed posted is 60 MPH, but most traffic goes at least 70 MPH.

SR 22 is a limited access expressway. The speed limit is 60 MPH. The traps are paved depressions in the median at the end of downgrades at mile 10 and 18; it is very easy to coast up to 75.
