Gaffney, South Carolina Speed Traps

If you are driving ANYWHERE on Interstate 85 in Cherokee County on Interstate 85 watch out! South Carolina State Troopers shoot advanced speed lasers on the top of bridges, overpasses and on entrance ramps. I been told very few radar detectors can capture this signal; and if it does, its already too late! I’ve seen 5 or 6 troopers park on entrance ramps and just wait, and they do not write warnings. If you see the peach water tank/tower do the speed limit! Myself, family, and a lot of other people I know have been written tickets near the 95MM.

the hwy 18 sign points right at the fork implying 18 is right but, this takes you directly into waiting radars in town. it’s business 18. you are lured off the 45 mph into a blind curve. while you are confused and understanding you maY BE ENTERING A LOWER SPEED LIMIT. YOU ARE AND THE SUPPOSED SPEED SIGN WAS IN THE CURVE,while you are looking for signs the cops are clocking you and laughing. they just walk into the street and wave you over for mugging.

I have been stopped 4x coming off of the interstate heading into gaffney on this road. The speed limit varies from 55 to 35, and the closer you get into town the lower the speed limit drops so BE VERY CAREFUL. 2 of those times was by the same cop, and its always the SC Highway Patrol.

Cops will hide in store parking lots. 35 mph – they usually set this trap when funds are low. This holiday season trap was for the city employees Christmas bonus.

Traveling thru Gaffney on I-85 the speed limits change and vary from 55-70 with a 60 and 65 thrown in. I have recieved a ticket as well as several family members. Was surprised to not find it already on this list as Gaffney has been like this for at least 15 years! On the other hand, our car broke down in Gaffney once and the police were very helpful.
