Middle of the small town.

Gifford, South CarolinaJun 27, 20180 Comments

Speed limit drops to 45mph at the edge of town which is typical for every town along this route. However, there is apparently a 35mph speed limit sign somewhere in the middle of town. The town’s single police officer sits in an silver unmarked car in a parking lot on the north side of town. He will issue tickets for 10mph over the speed limit. Most people miss the 35mph sign. Typical small town speed trap cash machine.

had followed a tractor trailer about ten miles doing about sixty in a 55 mph zone. tractor and us slowed to within the posted speeds going into and through town. Passed officer facing us who stopped us and claimed 68 mph in middle of town. he reduced points from four to two and from about $400.00 to about $180.00. This speeding accusation is totally false as I was watching the drivers speed closely as I travel that road in my work and know these little towns and their speed traps

55 mph to 35 mph. Pay attention! My son alerted me to the police car following me. I pulled over to let him go by, he didn’t go by…
Be forewarned.

321 North – Center of Town

Beware. Slow down to 33 mph through town. Best to go slower than normal.

The Chief sat in his car behind the 45 Mph sign to “clock” cars leaving Gifford and driving towards the 45 mph sign. I was “clocked” at 60mph. Chief would not tell me when the radar gun was last calibrated, nor would he allow me to see the radar gun.

My passenger and I know we were not going 60mph in a 35mph zone. There was a car or two in front of me and I was not riding their bumper.

Typical South Carolina speed trap. Last in a line of 4 cars all going the speed limit. Out of state driver stopped without radar or being clocked. Chief of this 250 population town said I was speeding by his observation.
