State Highway 290 near Bobo Road

11 PM traveling with cruise control set on 55, officer met me, turned around to stop me.(no other cars on road) asked if i know how fast I was going. replied 55 and he said 67. asked to see his radar unit… No. it was not any of my business. Advised after being ticketed that the best thing for me to do was to leave. Appeared in court, listened to 25 or more cases and strangely every body was traveling at 67 MPH. Judge immediately asked "Why was I harrassing his officer……I replied that I was not. He found me guilty with a fine of either $182 and no points or $96 and 2 points. I paid the $182…….The posted speed at the location was 50 and I was traveling 55. I avoid that city.

Seems like its just pops up at you when the speed limit suddenly hits 40mph from 50mph without warning. The patrol thrive on this section and seems like this is more of a money maker for the city.

U.S. Hwy 29 and Hwy 129

Lyman, South CarolinaSep 18, 20020 Comments

Hwy 129 – lonely stretch of wooded roadway, no houses or businesses and just annexed into the city which is 3 miles away. heavy enforcment with no mercy by the magistrate. Also U.S. Hwy 29 and Hwy 292 – Heavy enforcement pays the bills, helps upkeep of approx. 6 new police cars, keeps taxes down. Average fine – $300.00 for speeding.
