Mount Pleasant, South Carolina Speed Traps
I travel this area daily and see cars stopped on the overpass nearly every single day, sometime multiple times in a single day.
As you are just leaving (or just arriving) Mt. Pleasant on highway 41 North, as you approach the left turn to get on Clements Ferry Road, a Berkeley County "Trooper" (really just an over-qualified toll collector with an attitude) awaits with a pulse radar or laser gun. They hide near that old wooden building. If you are coming into Mt. pleasant on Hwy 41 from Cainhoy, the speed just drops from 55 to 45 to 35…so it’s easy to be way over the limit.
They’ll gladly reduce it a two point violation in court, way out in Moncks Corner. No wonder they can get a pension in 20 years, after they all rape us hard-working citizens just driving to work, etc.
As you pass Whitesides Elementary, better not exceed the posted limit, even if there are no kids in sight. I live nearby, and was pulled for doing 10 mph over the limit, I think it is 25 and I was doing 35, or maybe it was 35 and I was doing 45mph, but the kids were all in the school and I didn’t think I was going too fast. Believe me, I always go by slowly now, even when there is no traffic, no kids out. That was 2 pts off my license, and I could have had manicure and pedicure.
Ppolice constantly monitor the ramps coming off Ravenel Bridge/Hwy 17N into Mt. Pleasant. Speed limit goes from 55mph to 40mph downhill.
Belle Hall Parkway is the main artery that feeds into all of the sections within the neighborhood. Marked and unmarked cars will sit at many different locations with radar. They will write you up! If you keep the speed under 30 no prob., any faster and you’re cooked!
