US Highway 76 near Antique Shop

Newberry, South CarolinaApr 12, 20070 Comments

Coming into Prosperity on US 76 North, the speed limit changes from 55 to 35 and it is quite common for a Properity police cruiser to be parked in front of the antique shop on the right just after the speed limit change. Plan to be at the limit before you pass the sign or you may be contributing to the town’s coffers. Enforcement is especially common after dark.

Anyone between the Town of Newberry and I-26 on SC 121 needs to watch out. Work is about to start on widening this highway, and the cops are out there so hot it’ll make bacon sizzle. A straight shot between the I and town, so it’s easy to get speed up, and for them to catch you. Watch out!

Highway 176

Constant patrol of the area. I have received three tickets, my entire life on the same stretch of highway.
Speed limit in Town of Witmire, the 55 mile per hour sign keeps moving. In Union, the speed changes from 45-55 leading into Union from Spartanburg.

Be careful between mile marker 70 and 80 to be safe. State Troopers hide at entrances to the Interstate where they cannot be seen.

highway patrol likes to hide in heavy traffic in the left lane. unmarked blue camero. will also jump off any ramp. will pick you out of a crowd. I just went to court charged with 80 in a 70. the "judge" gets a few people up there to plead guilty and then asks them if they need any "help", he then reduces the fine and the points. then he asks those who are going to plead innocent to sit on the side of the room. he then "helps" all the rest. when the not guilty souls were left he once again warned us that if we were found guilty under his "bench" trial, he would not be able to "help" us. all were found guilty. i have lived in this state for over 20 years and this area is known statewide for being bad. i cant wait until the highway patrol officer pulls a sled agent(south carolina law enforcement division) maybe then this can stop.
