Small town on major two lane highway. Policeman sits in car at city hall as though parked in the city hall parking lot and at a local corner store. There is a large margin on both sides of the road, 15+ feet, to allow practically any kind of foot or bicycle traffic. The speed zone is less than a mile long. There is almost no margin for error for speedometer or other driver or vehicle issues given by the policeman. The speed limit is 45. 47 will get you a ticket every time.

Trap is located about 10 miles south of Dillon, manned by a local constable in a light colored older Ford Taurus. The speed limit drops abruptly from 55 to 45 in a totally unrealistic spot– no change in highway conditions. Signage was not easily observable, if it was even there. Highway has a deep ditch on the right, woods on the left, so watch for any location where a car might park to function as a speed trap. For 63 mph the fine was $183.

This speed trap goes from 55 to 45 miles per hour and back up to 55 miles per hour in an 1/4 mile stretch. The town police hide behind signs and at the one store that is in this town. I have heard of cases people have been pulled for less than 5 miles over the speed limit. I have traveled this road for 25 years Monday – Friday and 4 out of 5 days they have someone pulled.
