0.4 miles east of I-45 on HWY79

The local cop sits in the grocery store parking lot facing east on hwy79 so if you are heading west on 79 as soon as you break the crest of the hill past the shell station on the right he has you on radar on the downhill slope.

Comments:
The cop has a black SUV. I do not know where he was parked. The law says he has to observe you speeding before he uses the radar gun. No way he could have done that. It was my first time through the area so I was not aware of the set-up town approach on Hwy 79. By now you are only normally going 30 anyway in town. As is normal I didn't think his flashing lights lights were for me. He waits until you are downtown before he pulls you over. The trap consists of a speed limit sign of 55 miles per hour, then a few hundred feet away you see a 45 MPH sign and behind it is a flashing yellow light. When you pass the 55 MPH sign, you automatically think the flashing light sign is for the lower 45 MPH sign coming up because it is a very short distance away behind the 45 MPH sign. So you naturally slow down without braking. The flashing light is in a school zone. The light is turned on even though there is no children present out doors. They are all inside having school. It was 11:30 AM and not even lunch hour yet. No cars were in the school drive and no school buses existed in the parking lot. I think the cop went to lunch at his house after he wrote my ticket because he made his morning quota. The Texas law says that all proceeds are to go towards safety purposes, but the brochure hand out that he gives you says it all goes to the city and not to salaries (?).. I mentioned that all kiuds were in school and it was not even lunch tome yet for anyone to be picked up for some reason. He said well they will have lunch soon. I turned around and redrove the route. It is a definite speed trap on 79 coming from the east (Tyler side).
