10 miles outside towards Logan

San Jon, New MexicoJun 12, 20031 Comments

I had just passed a Uhaul with a trailor. During this pass I accelerated from what I had been driving (my cruise control was set on 60) Immediently after I passed I was pulled over by a state trooper who caught me going 74 in a 55. He said that I needed to learn a lesson (this is my first speeding ticket.) It was obvious that I had just passed this Uhaul. There were several other cars that had passed my very fast, but they were not given a ticket, probably because of there New Mexico tags. Be very careful in this area. Guess you can’t pass anyone if you have out of state tags.

Response to June 12, 2003 complaint: What are the facts? 1. Speed limit = 55MPH. 2. 74MPH is over speed limit. 3. Passing a U-Haul is legal if not in a "no passing zone" and the driver doesn't exceed the speed limit of 55MPH. Saving a minute or two in travel time is more important than what? Complaints seem consistent with following assumption: When and wherever I get caught speeding, is therefore a "speed trap." Speeding is speeding period! I live in San Jon and I advocate for the safety of our citizens. Just don't speed and you probably won't meet some of the finest local citizens of our small village; first responders.
