163 N before 805 N merge

San Diego, CaliforniaFeb 06, 20152 Comments

CHP motorcycle with radar stationary on shoulder. Catches people cresting the steep grade from the 8 when your natural tendency is to linger on the throttle too long and pick up speed unintentionally. Nailed the lady behind me and she wasnt even 10 over the limit.
11 AM Friday.

INTERESTING that you would know if someone in another car got "nailed".... most likely that person only received a warning if he or she was moving at 10-over traffic flow. This is a dangerous area- a motorcycle cop was killed just last year heading north on the 163 just north of I-8. I doubt very much that this stretch of road is being used by stationary two-wheelers as a "speed trap".... Speeding up steeper hills on interstates in California (or anywhere, for that matter) is risky- there are often slow-moving big rigs on the these grades and the CHP just won't tolerate it- they've had to scrape speeders (and their vehicles) off the pavement after they have struck and "gone under" heavy trailers way too often. Please obey local speed laws driving in California- this is not Nevada or Montana....

SR163 North does not 'merge' with 805- there is an exit for 805 North- a bit north of there, SR163 merges with Northbound I-15....
