17700 block of 301 northbound

Waldo, FloridaJul 19, 20123 Comments

I was traveling 301 northbound watching spoed Limit signs very carefully. Went from 65 to 55 to 45 in a matter of feet. Being prior law enforcement I was very careful about my speed. As I was driving the speed limit increased from 45 to 55 the back to 65. I was already back into the 65, which is a mile or so past the city, when I looked in my rear view and noticed a cruiser flying up behind me. He pulled me over and said he clocked me doing 60 in a 45 when I passed the flea market. I told him I was watching my spoed closely and being prior law enforcement I was being very careful not to speed. He did not want to hear any of it, just asked for my license, no registration or insurance, the came back to the car with a $244.00 ticket. I was extremely mad. There is really no way to fight a speeding ticket, especially from radar. It is little towns like this that will shut because no one will ever want to drive through there, let alone do any business there. Thanks a lot Cpl. Dum Sum of the Waldo Police Department

Comments:
The friendly (gag) police are always pulling someone over through-out the whole stinkin town best thing to do is 44mph untill your out of town and past the 65 mph sign. We have never stopped in this town to eat,get gas, or take in the flea market.

My experience was exactly like the posting dated July 19, 2012 in Waldo, FL. At 6:20 AM, pitch black in the AM there were blaring lights behind me, no street lights, it was black outside and I was scared; I am female driving alone. I reluctantly stopped because I didn't feel I had any other options. Prior, I also was monitoring my speed having driven this stretch of road before. My GPS reports the current speed limit and the speed I am driving, I knew exactly what speed I was driving at the time of my stop. I was not speeding!!! I also was NOT convinced that the person stopping me was a real cop. He, like the posting dated July 19,2012, only asked for my license, NO registration or insurance. My ticket, was also $244. I elected to fight the ticket with a court date, then after reading the "fine print" on the citation it clearly states "(option #5) if the County Judge determines you committed the speeding infraction he can impose an additional $500 fine". What were my chances of fighting this successfully. Corruption was obvious and I couldn't afford an additional $500 on top of the $244 speeding ticket. I will never drive that stretch of road again, I will go the long route and travel on route 75 instead. Waldo and all those little towns on that stretch of route 301 who have set up speed traps to pad their mismanagement of spending in their hick towns are all CORRUPT. Tallahassee shame on you for allowing this to continue.
