17th Ave along city park

Denver, ColoradoAug 01, 20122 Comments

The city just lowered the speed limit and made it a safety zone so the fine is doubled.

Comments:
The zone is posted. Watch for the speed cam van that works EB sections of the road near the park. You only get a small speed cam sign 300 ft before the van.

Any place Denver sees lots of potential tickets- they'll lower the speed limit and/or declare "safety zone"-- what's the excuse here? City park is across the street. Does this mean hoards of pedestrians cross 17th Ave. by foot to get to the park or from the park? Hardly at all. Nearly no one crosses 17th Ave. by foot- it's all car traffic into the park, and even then, City Park barely has the regular visitors of Washington or Cheesman Park, far busier with regular pedestrians. So the "safety zone' of 17th Ave. is completely bogus- just another speed trap because 17th Ave. has tons of traffic to and from downtown- and hefty pickings for the photo van.
