249/ZION Road

The speed trap there is the camera that monitors the intersection. I received a ticket for running a red light. This was based on a view from the mounted camera and in no way did i run the light. It was close but it changed from green to red in a very short time.Stopping would have caused a traffic accident. Then if you do not know a couple of months later you get a ticket in the mail from a private company in Arizona! The city only gets a portion of the $75.00 fine ans the "Company" gets the rest

Comments:
I live in the Tomball area, & that intersection had a camera set up about a year ago to catch red light runners only. The camera use is NOT a speed trap. The camera was set up here because this is the last intersection along NB 249 before you go down a hill & cross into the next county & has been a very popular intersection to run red lights by NB traffic. It is also the same intersection where NB traffic turns left onto a college campus. Many of the red light runners are college students trying to make their classes. The rest are folks trying to head home from work or heading NB to Lake Conroe, probably the most profitable place for the City of Tomball to set up a red light runner camera.
