Coming down a slight hill in a rural setting Blount CO Sherrif was sitting in a gravel lot of the Punkin Center on rte 129 at 35°34’59.1″N 84°05’45.7″ which begins an easy s curve marked at 30mph, we saw him and had no concern because our speed was leisurely and the first part of the “S” was not as tight as the second part. I was the last of a small group of motorcycles all traveling at a leisurely pace.
My radar detector never went off and we passed uneventfully. A mile down the road I saw blue lights in my mirror and was surprised when he followed me into the pull off. He gave me a ticket for 45 in a 30. On the ticket it says he “observed me” doing 45mph – Officer Freddie Roberts had a lot to say about all the motorcycle accidents in the area (Tail of the Dragon) so apparently he was “teaching me a lesson” for looking fast. Ticket cost – $257.25
