5117 Hwy 4 Jemez Pueblo, NM 87204
Pueblo of Jemez has many speed traps. This is just one example of a speed trap. A section of the road goes from 55 MPH to 40 MPH to 30 MPH. The 55 MPH section is going downhill. The 40 MPH is going uphill. At the beginning of the descend this hill it changes to 30 MPH. Thus, the momentum of the vehicle makes it difficult if not impossible to slow down quickly to 30 MPH. An unmarked police car is just over the hill, waiting for the next vehicle to ticket for not being able to quickly slow down to 30 MPH while traveling down a slope of 6% grade. The Pueblo of Jemez justifies this for public safety while collect $90 speeding tickets. If the Pueblo of Jemez feels that public safety should be the number one priority, why hasn’t the Pueblo of Jemez set up a flashing road radar speed indicator? For less than $5000, this could be accomplished. This would slow down over 80% of traffic providing true public safety.
