A "ticket trap!"

Mount Prospect, IllinoisJan 06, 20111 Comments

Location is at Mt. Prospect and Central Roads. It’s a terribly configured road and you can easily get into a situation where you can be blocking traffic on Central Road when you are traveling NW on Mt. Prospect Road heading towards Rand Road. There’s an officer in the Tile place parking lot looking for "street blockers" (and no seat belts too). It sure seems like a money maker for Mt. Prospect since many, many times you block Central due to no fault of your own but due to too many cars trying to fit into a very small area leading to Rand road (which has a light and stops traffic there too. Anyone who’s gone through that intersecting tangle of streets knows what is meant!

Comments:
Having lived in Mt. Prospect for nearly 30 years, the biggest complaint that police find in surveys taken, is speeding. And I couldn’t agree more; especially on Central Road. So, I for one, am always happy to see our tax paid employees at work. The corner is tricky, but if one pays attention and reads the street signs, there isn’t any reason the drivers should end up in the middle of the street. Over the years, I have gone thru this intersection at all times of the day, and it is difficult. Just use common *driving sense” when entering it, and a driver will be fine. The police, periodically, stand near the corner and hand out well deserved tickets. For example, I was at the corner and the fellow in front, actually, continued thru the intersection, knowing full well, he was going to block the road. The police officer started laughing as he went over to hand the driver a ticket. I see this stupid behavior frequently. This was by choice, not by accident. So, yes, he deserved a ticket, because he blocked nearly the entire road. Slow down and realize it might take several stop lights to get thru. A driver is responsible for his actions at all times. Grow up and realize that a person needs to own up to their actions. It matter littles if it is the design of the corner or not. Nor, especially, the police officer who is only doing what he is trained to do and required by law.
