Not speed trap but general notice: APD now has license plate scanners in some of its cruisers which look for cars which do not have a current registration sticker. They don’t yet appear to check for insurance status using this method, but it’s probably not far behind. If your registration isn’t current and you see a cruiser in traffic anywhere near you, keep your distance and find a detour or parking lot to duck into.

APD has computers on-line in most of their cruisers. They can now check (and are checking) insurance status with most companies. They will still ask for your proof of insurance to see if you are using a false/fraudulent document. If you are, in addition to a citation for not having insurance, they will issue a second more serious citation for the fake document. It's about time!
