AS YOU GET ON ROUTE 24

AS i ROUNDED THE CURVE, A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS STOPPED IN THE RIGHT LANE. i LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND MOVED INTO THE LEFT LANE.
PASSING THE TRUCK, I NOTICED A FLASHING LIGHT AT THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER, THE COP CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY, AND TICKETED US FOR SPEEDING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE. THE FIRST THING OUT OF HIS MOUTH WAS, I GUESS YOU COULDN’T SEE THE FLASHING LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE TRACTOR, BUT THEN PROCEEDED TO GO BACK TO HIS CAR AND ISSUE A 444.00 TICKET. AVOID THIS TOWN. I WAS GOING TO FLORIDA TO A FAMILY PARTY AND TO BUY SOME PROPERTY. THIS CHANGED MY MIND. I’LL MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Lawtey! Definitely a speed trap. I used to have to drive through there a couple of times a year. If I was the only vehicle around, it wasn't uncommon for a cop to tailgate me all the way through the "city". Never got a ticket, though. Lawtey is one of only two towns in the ENTIRE USA that is listed as a speed trap by the American Automobile Association. The other is Waldo, FL about 20 more miles down the road from Lawtey.
