Avonhead Rd. between Lakeshore Rd. W and Royal Windsor Dr.

Avonhead Rd. is a bypass from Lakeshore and Royal Windsor in south-western Mississauga, located about halfway between Winston Churchill and Southdown road, that can be used to avoid the usually heavy traffic on those two main roads. Note the speed limit on Winston Churchill is 60 km/h and Southdown is 70 km/h, the speed limit on Avonhead (with no apparent reason, because other than 2 businesses that rarely have one or two trucks going in or out, there’s the long fence of the cement plant and a few abandoned properties on that road…) is 50 km/h (the sign is right at the south (Lakeshore) end of Avonhead. The cop is usually parked in on the cement plant side in front of one of those abandoned properties about half way up the street (when coming from Lakeshore – I took the following GPS coordinates from Google maps: 43°30’04.3″N 79°37’52.1″W) monitoring the northbound traffic, usually. People generally go fast there… there’s no reason to take that bumpy road other than making it quicker to the Clarkson go station or the shopping outlets in that area, to beat the much heavier traffic on Winston Churchill or the cutter of heavy trucks on Southdown. Whoever set the speed limit to 50 km/h most likely thought of giving the cops a good place to collect money than the usefulness of that road, again, given that both parallel major roads, with significantly heavier traffic, have higher speed limits.
