Ballinger Way near US Highway 104

Lake Forest Park, WashingtonDec 18, 20076 Comments

Talk to anyone who’s driven through anywhere in Lake Forest Park, and they’ll tell you to drive slower than the speed limit. The police there have been hassling motorists for over 30 years. I’m not even joking. Watch your speed and you’ll be OK.

Both my grandparents lived here before I was born. I bought and live in one of the houses now. I know Lake Forest Park. 1 mile an hour over will do it. I have also seen under speed called too fast for conditions here. Beware.

This not a speed trap. This highway is through a residential area. An elementary school is also located on the road. It is curved with many blind driveways. Many people in Lake Forest Park walk on this road, never intended to be a main arterial. Forty miles an hour is fast enough for this road. I wish Lake Forest Park Police Department would patrol this highway more frequently. I never see motorists pulled over for speeding. How fast does anyone really need to go on this road? Slow down.

This person is correct; HWY104 or Ballenger as its also know is not a "regular" speed trap in LFP. Being an LFP local I have seen folks pulled over on Ballenger/HWY104 so don't kid yourselves. One thing the post above is not correct about is that the speed is NOT 40mph on this road!! It changes from 40mph to 30mph right as you just enter LFP from Shoreline down the hill just before you reach 35th Ave NE (near Wiz Kids and LFP corner market). From there on down to HWY522 the speed is 30mhp not 40mph. SO BEWARE if you travel through LFP in this area. All the residential streets are patrolled much more agressively and the cops ARE jerks about it. Total community harassment by the police if you speed. I've been told by long term locals the police department is pretty corrupt. However people do drive way too fast through the local streets and it is an active walking, bike riding, etc community. I have small kids so I am not so bothered by it. But be forwarned!!!! *************************************************************************************************** This not a speed trap. To the LFP Police officer 2 posts up, looks like someone is a little PO'ed one of their favorite revenue producing trap has been exposed. This IS a trap without a doubt, and if anyone is walking their dog or jogging on this road they are an idiot, as there are numerous and better places to do that sort of activity in the LFP area without the danger of a busy road. The LFP police department is very corrupt, so you won't find any honesty coming from their direction anytime soon.
