Bancroft Street – usually in the Playfair parking lot

Missoula, MontanaApr 12, 20101 Comments

The speed limit on Bancroft Street between South Avenue and Southwest Higgins is 25 MPH. This a main arterial from Sentinel High School and Southwest Higgins.
Missoula Police usually sit in the middle of southern entrance to Playfair Parking Lot waiting for anyone who is traveling Bancroft Street over 30.

Comments:
This one is a textbook example of why we must call them "Illegal Speed Entrapments." The term, though redundant, more clearly shows that the areas in question are skillfully adjusted to push motorists into speeding. In this case, the street looks exactly like a 35mph zone. There are no hanging speed signs. Standard speed signs are relatively small compared to the street's width. Officers lurk there, poised to "teach" drivers to drive more slowly. The current approach in places like this is not only ineffective but brings strong disrespect to law enforcement.
