Baytree Rd. is a terrible speed trap. It is 35 mph, but four lane to tempt you to drive 45 mph. Although Valdosta is a small town, this road passes through the University, Remerton, Ga.,and it is in the city and county, so you could be pulled over by one of five different police forces on this road. There are Valdosta State University police, Lowndes County deputies, Remerton (Ga.) police, Valdosta City police, and unmarked DEA cars, all waiting to pull you over. Also, if you do find yourself pulled over by any of these officers, be prepared to have your rights violated when they search your car.

So, I suppose you must have had something illegal in your car. Baytree Road is not a battle zone for cops. However, speedy students that don't realize they are driving 60-70mph in a 35mph zone are routinely pulled over for speeding. If they smell like a Cheech and Chong movie set, they'll most likely be asked to let the officer search their car. They don't have to let the officer search. That is their right.

If the officer can smell the weed, no consent is needed.
