Beck Road near Main Street

Northville, MichiganOct 17, 20082 Comments

Southbound on Beck Road at Main Street. STEEP downhill where the speed limit falls from 45 MPH to 35 MPH without being well-marked. There is no possibility that without gearing down or braking the driver will not be exceeding this speed of 35 MPH. Police sit at Main Street on East side of Beck and wait. Almost every vehicle is "speeding" as they pass this intersection, and due to the steep geography it is impossible not to be speeding without braking.

Comments:
Several people I know have complained to the courts that it is IMPOSSIBLE to cross over eight mile where the speed is 45 mph, come down the hill and slow to 35 before you see the change in speed of 10 mph down to 35 mph.

Police car sits pointing north just south of Eight Mile Rd (Base Line Rd) on the small grass area up the curb on the side of the road that is clearly posted NO PARKING. The officer waits for cars coming down the hill. As driver approaches the down hill there is a limited visibility yellow sign at the point your looking down the hill (easily over looked) and there is a 2.75 tenths of a mile area that the speed limit is 35 mph going down the hill ...before and after the speed limit 45 mph.
