Bedford Road between 157 and 121

Bedford, TexasApr 21, 20121 Comments

Cops will sit on the north side of Bedford Road between 157 and 121. The speed limit is 35, but should be 45. There are no residential houses that face Bedford Road. Bedford Road is two lanes each direction with a dedicated turn lane. The only thing on each side of the road is the back of houses and a row of shrubs that sepeates the back of houses from the road.

Cops sit on side roads waiting for someone to come down the hill traveling over 35. This is a bad speed trap.

Comments:
I actually live on this stretch of road, and this is not a speed trap. Yes, people going 45 instead of 35 will get a ticket. Yes, the cops wait for people to come by. But this is a RESIDENTIAL street! 35 mph is appropriate. The person wrote "the only thing is the back of houses." What about the apartment complex where I and others live and the townhouse community right next door - hundreds of families with children! Do you think we want people driving 45 down our residential street? Granted, closer to 157 it's more businesses, and I believe that's the area this person is talking about (it's the only place with a dedicated turn lane), and 45 mph might be appropriate for the couple of blocks of Bedford Road right before 157. But it's definitely not appropriate for the west end of it, near 121. (And to make one end faster would mean two speed limit changes within a 1-mile stretch of road. Definitely not a good idea.) So, sorry. You'll just have to accept that this is a residential road, and keep it to 35. Those of us who live there are GLAD when we see a cop sitting around watching the cars, to keep people like this poster who think it's OK to drive 45 on a residential road from doing so.
