Bennett Drive near Bennett Drive

Longwood, FloridaMar 16, 20061 Comments

Usually two cops,in either motorcycle or unmarked cars , park on the side of building 1275 Bennett Dr. They hide behid a tree of the postal mailbox and each points his radar gun in each direction of traffic. 25 MPH is unreasonably slow and they know that. Different times of the day and at least three days a week.

Comments:
Intersecting at either end of this block of Bennett Dr are North St (Speed limit: 35MPH) and Florida Central Pkwy (Speed limit: 35MPH). Longwood police will stop you for going 35 MPH on Bennett (Speed limit: 25MPH), and tell you they are doing you a favor by only giving you a $166 ticket. The original poster is right. The speed limit on Bennett is too low. Bennett Dr is in an industrial park. There are no structures crowding the street or impeding visibility. The lanes are wide and there are no sharp turns. Given the frequency of speed traps on Bennett and the propensity of the Longwood PD to hand out tickets (instead of warnings) at those traps, those tiny 25MPH signs are more revenue-generators than protectors of public safety.
