Big Country Convenience Store 4-Way Stop at CR 32 and CR 87

There is a 4-way stop located near the town of Elberta, AL at the intersection of County Road (CR) 87 and County Road (CR) 32. There is a convenience store called ‘Big Country’ located at this intersection.

9 out of 10 times I travel through this stop I see one or more marked gold/brown Baldwin County Sheriff SUVs and/or patrol cars parked here.

I have also seen marked town of Elberta police cars here even though this location is far out of their posted town jurisdiction.

This intersection is monitored for stop sign violations and speeding routinely and is a preferred location for DUI roadblocks late at night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Out of State tourists seeking access to the Baldwin Beach Express wander upon this location not knowing where they are and law enforcement takes advantage of this.

Bonus Tip: Drivers should be aware there is much farm traffic in this area. Slow moving tractors and other moving farm equipment constantly block lanes traveling from one cotton field to another creating multiple safety hazards.

Cows also appear frequently in the roads having escaping fenced pastures! It’s not just the cops you have to watch out for in this part of Lower Alabama (LA).
