Bolton Road (Route 2) onto North Main street
As you come from the Bolton Ski area (or if you just happen to be south bound on Bolton road,) you come into Waterbury Vermont. Bolton road has a 40mph speed limit and as you approach the town naturally the area becomes more populated. 100 feet (yes, that’s less than 2 seconds) before you enter town there’s a sign that says 25 mph ahead. At the town border there’s a 25 mph sign and a (fat) local cop with a DVD survelliance camera built into his cruiser. It’s important to note, because the sceneary doesn’t really indicate you’ve crossed any kind of border. They (Vermont) have this 50% of posted speed rule. If you exceed that then suddenly your ticket crosees the civil violation threshold (as opposed to a simple traffic ticket.) So the math is 25 + 50% of 25 is 37.5mph. Guess what? If you miss that sign or don’t react in the 1.7 seconds, you’re just been punked by the Waterbury PD to the tune of a buck 50!
