Both ends of town

Lynchburg, South CarolinaApr 14, 20111 Comments

They sit where the speed limit changes from 55 to 35 on Hwy 76 . I was stopped one day and knew he was sitting there so I was going 35 . He pulled me over and said he clocked me at 51 MPH. I told him he was crazy and that I saw him and knew he was there and why would I speed . I was pulling a small enclosed trailer and he proceeded to tell me how pulling a trailer would effect my speedometer and make it not register the correct speed . How stupid can that be. I was amazed he even said that and more amazed that he really believed it and tried to convince me of it . I did not get a ticked that day because I stood my ground with him , but it seems all they have to do in this town is write speeding tickets . I’m through there all the time because my daughter lives there.

I can beleive this. I was pulled over by a Lee County Patrolman who was walking out of that little store and I never speed going through Lynchburg. Since the town is no longer incorporated, and has no local police, Lee County has stepped in. I was not issued a ticket, because I told the cop that there was no way he could have got a radar reading on me since he was pulled into the store head in, and he was not in the car until I was past that old garage at the end of town, and I was also on my way to the hospital because I had a bad staph infection on my neck that was bleeding very bad. The cop was friendly and wanted to call a ambulance, but I told him the Dr was waiting for me and it would take twice as long for me to go by EMS. But Lynchburgh has been a well known speed trap for as long as I have lived here. I can remember going through Lynchburg and seeing cars pulled over better than I can remember going through town and not seeing someone getting a ticket. I had a friend pulled over right before the 55 mph speed limit and he said he was going 48 to get up to 55. I was not with him but I have seen many cars pulled over in that same place.
