Briarcliff Rd, northbound just south of Sage Hill Shpng Ctr

Atlanta, GeorgiaApr 20, 20141 Comments

Motor cycle cop on right hand side, just barely out of sight, north of the bridge. Traps motorists coming around the curve. The speed limit there is 35, but by the time they arrive at that point most drivers are going around 45. The cop is usually there in the mid mornings between 10 and 12 on weekdays.

Comments:
This is an on going speed trap in Dekalb County, Georgia between the Channel 5 TV Studios and the Sage Hill Shopping center . I live in the area and have observed this speed trap for several years. I am not a speeder and certainly do not condone this type of driving but this section of Briarcliff Road is a down sloping hill, and yes you can very easily exceed the posted 35 MPH speed limit if you do not ride your brakes. I was pulled over once by this motorcycle officer. I knew I was not speeding, he approached my car, and told me he just pulled me over to catch the guy behind me. He advised me to slow down. I was relieved, but knew the guy behind me would not be so lucky. If the police would concentrate on the real traffic offenders, the driving public would profoundly benefit rather than rake in "Speedtrap Money" that only irritates the unfortunate driver and adds easy money for the county.
