Bridge on 544

Myrtle Beach, South CarolinaMar 05, 20103 Comments

Hwy 544 is only 45 Miles the entire length of the road. Cop’s sit at the bottom of the bridge, mainly on the north side. I have been ticketed once myself. I see people getting pulled over and in some case two cars at a time!

Be careful!

Comments:
I just want to correct an error. Hwy 544 is not 45 miles long. The city whole city of Myrtle Beach is not 45 miles long. Hwy 544 is about 12 miles long. This is a major route to the beach for tourist. The police do not give out tickets unless you are doing about 55mph. I use Hwy 544 frequently because I live off or the Hwy. This is what cruise control is for.

In response to the last comment: Oh yes this is a HUGE speed trap!! I live off of this stretch of 544. It is extemely rare that I drive on it and I don't see blue lights flashing! And if you had paid attention to the original post you'd know that the poster was saying that 544 has a 45 mile/hr speed limit for it's entire length...which is absolutely true! Years ago, when 544 was a 2-lane hwy, the speed limit was 45...for some reason or another they didn't raise the speed limit after the hwy was widened. I think they intentionally made it a speed trap to raise funds for Horry County.

I agree with the last poster, 544 is nothing but a speed trap from start to finish. Mainly around hwy 31 but I have seen them all over. I travel 544 every day and I use my cruise control religously.
