Broad Street – Downtown New Bern (17/55)

New Bern, North CarolinaFeb 20, 20111 Comments

25 mile per hour speed limit on a road that could be traveled at 35mph safely, New Bern City Police will DEFINITELY pull you over for going as little as 5mph over the speed limit. It decreases from 35 to 25 at the 5 points area where Queen St intersects and continues at 25mph all the way to the end. Since the New Bern Police Department is visible down Queen St from that intersection, there are police frequently ready to ticket you.

Hi, I moved here from Savannah. I've lived in 11 states and many more cities in those states... I've never in my life seen more of a speed trap in my life! I actually sent an email to the Chief of police, the Mayor and the Governor on Saturday and all I've gotten was a response from the Chief saying it's not used for revenue! I don't believe that. I asked for a public Engineering study of why they raised the speed limit and told him that it's more dangerous to be looking at the speedometer to be sure I'm not driving over 25 than it is to speed! Why don't they find a legal way to show how many tickets they have written last year! That would really let everyone see what's up here. Is there anyone to contact about this? Dharma
