The Gilbert P.D. has turned Gilbert into a serious speed trap. Main street is 4 lanes is about a mile long and straight for the entire length. It could be used for a airport landing strip. The main street has a 30 mph speed limit that most feel is unreasonable. A person driving thru would expect at least a 40 mph limit. All money from speeding tickets goes into the city budget. The police budget is part of the city budget so there is a real incentive for officers to write tickets and they do. If at all possible avoid driving thru Gilbert.
