Butler St & 10th Ave

Ackley, IowaNov 13, 20084 Comments

speed goes from 55 to 45 to 35 to 25 very quickly. Cops sit there hidden all the time. Three family members (3 of 6 drivers) have been ticketed in 6 weeks. A real fund raiser for the city of Ackley Iowa.

Comments:
Yes, this is definately a trap! The cops set at the apartment complex so they blend in with the other cars (too far away to see clearly anyway). They set their radar for the top of the hill even though the speed does not change until you go down the other side a ways. I was clocked at the crest of the hill, so even though I was at the correct speed at all 3 signs and was OUTSIDE the city limits when clocked I was still given a ticket. I have a perfect driving record. I was just tired and was definately not speeding but had to pay it anyway. I will be pissed off about this for a very long time. Cops here also stopped my daughter and her boyfriend for a blinker out and wanted to search the car. The police here are a throwback from days gone by. I feel it is an invasion of our rights!

I too will have to disagree with the first two comments. I personally know that the residents of the apartment complex on Butler Street APPRECIATE officers sitting and running radar. I feel that the speed limits are perfectly placed and easy to follow. I've been to towns before where the radar suddenly drops from 55 to 25! It is definately not an invasion of rights to be ASKED if they can search a car. Remember there is a word "no". Also if you disagree with a ticket so much, go to court that's why they are there. In reference to the comments about the female officer with dark hair, I think the only true statement you put in your paragraph is that she is 5'6! She does NOT do drugs nor does she drink all the time. Looks like your "known fact" is wrong and you should double check your sources. She is a wonderful individual and has helped me numerous times! I think the Ackley Police Dept is doing a excellent job and I hope they keep up the good work!

I too disagree with the first 2 comments. If you were not breaking the law, you wouldn't be stopped/ticketed, they are doing their job the same as you and I, only their profession makes them look like the bad guy. The young lady you are referring to is a VERY KIND person doing what she was hired to do. She does NOT hang out with the druggies, etc. per indicated above.
