This is a two way speed trap. They also wait at the top of the grade, westbound, to catch drivers as they come into sight under the overpass. From this position, they can also see the length of Canal West of them. I've also seen them waiting in the wide gravelled are between Canal Drive and the canal at the bottom of the hill, and you cannot see them on either side until you go under the overpass. What get me is that I have often followed cops down canal at speeds of up to 50mph, when the speed limit is 35. Canal drive only has houses on the south side, the other side is railroad property, doesn't even have a sidewalk.
