Illegal School zone signs flashing 20mph in a 30mph zone. Courts have already ruled that the signs are illegal and will throw any tickets out. Police cruiser sits by the signs to intimidate drivers to slow to 20mph but if you are ticketed it is an illegal ticket.

These signs are illegal because they're too far from the actual school. The unfortunate thing is that the courthouse where you would need to go is not exactly convenient, especially if you're just traveling through.
According to paragraph 2 of RCW 46.61.440 (http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.61.440), the school zone "may extend three hundred feet from the border of the school". Using the distance measurement tool on Google Maps shows that highway 2 is 360 feet north of the northern most part of the high school. Is there another school in the area? The grade school is south of the high school.
