Late at nights usually around the time of 9 p.m. or greater cops sit along the fence line of the NCDOT maintainance yard. They turn all their lights off making it impossible to see them when you go by. It is sorta an entrapment situation but they will pull you even if you are going over the speed limit just a little bit. The speed limit is 45 mph. When I get off work, I just go sit on my porch and watch him sit over there and clock people because he is parked on the opposite side of the road directly from my house. I can see the red numbers on his dash light up as he clocks everyone. And on about that 10th car….hes after him. So pretty much on a whole ALL of chatham street, which is the main street in newport, is on a police watch because of the various changes in the speed leading to hiding cops who are willing to pull people no matter if its 5 over.
