Coming in and out of Long Beach on Pacific Hwy

Long Beach, WashingtonNov 30, 20102 Comments

Speed limit goes from 50 to 35. Police hide right at the speed limit sign. Common tactic is to ticket you for speeding as tou are leaving town as you speed up to 50 mph just prior to reaching the sign. They will also pull you over for failure to use a turn signal even when there is no cars in sight and you are in a rural area. Watch the end of the month, the police are more aggressive at that time.

Comments:
Active trap. Typical tactics, typical crooked small town cops in typical revenue collections grab.

This is a common spot for tickets if you are going 10+ over. The city of Long Beach doesn't have their own speed codes like many cities so they make very little off tickets. It has more to do with who is working during the day. Some local officers are eh, very proactive. It's rare to get a ticket in Long Beach for less than 10 over though, my friend works in the local court. Now talking on the phone, burning out, seat belts, or DUI's are another thing. The locals want a nice town so these things are not tolerated at all. Ilwaco actually does push the cops to write tickets, but Long Beach doesn't, they'd rather be tourist friendly. Just watch the speed with in reason and you'll be ok.
