County Road 121 Road near County Road 462 Road

Wildwood, FloridaOct 15, 20072 Comments

Deputies are out daily writing as many tickets as possible. The speed limit was recently dropped from 45mph to 30mph & they are stopping local residents who live in this area and have driven 45mph down this road for the last 40 plus years. There is no reason for them to have changed the speed limit except to create a speed trap. The area has no new driveways and homes along that section of the road.

Comments:
You bet this is a speed trap BECAUSE RESIDENTS ON 121 HAVE COMPLAINED people have been killed and seriously hurt on this road Kids drag race side by side on this narrow road trying to prove what ????

It's December 2015 and County Road 121 is still a speed trap from CR 114 (north point) to CR 462 (south point). Every day - I see one, two and sometimes three sheriff cars along this road. When you come off of CR 462 - you better we doing 30 mph. Otherwise - the deputy sitting 150 ft down on CR 132A (that you will NOT see) will tag you at 45 mph; and his partner a mile north will chase you down. That's how I got my ticket. As I came off CR 462 and slowed down like I have done for 40+ years - the deputy (which I did not see) tagged me at 45 mph. By the time I got 1/2 mile down the road (exactly where the two trees used to be in the middle of the road) - I saw deputy #2 headed southbound doing 80 mph (you could see his car rise and settle down as he crested the softly rolling road that CR 121 is). As deputy #2 passed me; he slammed on the brakes, did a bat turn, tail gated me for 1/4 mile and then pulled me over. That's some good traffic enforcement procedures for you - have deputy drive 80 mph towards the speeder....in a 30 mph zone. Maybe he thought I was going to turn left on CR 128 and escape. As far as the previous comment on people getting killed on CR 121. That may be so - as it is on every road. But, I don't recall any accidents other than the occasional accident. And for their drag racing comment - that was what we used CR 472 for back in my youth.
