County Road 13, Northwest End
Right before the park and town offices, near the Kangaroo gas station, the speed limit drops to only 25mph. (If you’re heading northwest on CR-13, the limit is 65 a couple miles away, but then quickly incrementally drops by tens until it’s only 25.) If you’re doing greater than 25 mph in this area, you will be pulled over. One of the officers told us that there’s a retired lady who’s home is right there and she sits on her porch and watches the traffic all day. She calls the Sheriff’s Department on anyone she sees doing over the speed limit, no matter what time of day or night. So, they’ve decided just to keep someone posted there (and, of course, they have to pull people over where she can witness them doing their job) so they don’t have to deal with her constant calling. Luckily, it’s only a short stretch of road.
