County Roads

Newburgh, IndianaFeb 01, 20030 Comments

Recently, several semi-rural county roads (Outer Gray, Frame, Ellerbush) for example, have had long stretches reduced to 20 mph. 20 mph is excessively low especially along outer Gray and Ellerbush. It is quite common to see underoccupied cops sitting in plain view just BEHIND 40 mph signs and clocking motorist just prior to reaching the sign. Technically they are still in a 20 zone. It is quite evident with this activity that these areas were reduced strictly as a revenue source. It is even well rumored around Newburgh that a long time city council member on the day after losing his reelection bid, ordered strict and heavy patrols in this area as a payback to getting beat.
