County sheriff outside of town
South of town, was driving 72, cruise control set on that speed for the past 4 hours. Passed a state patrolman north of Menard going the same direction I was, he didn’t stop me. Past a sheriff parked with radar on the south side of town, he didn’t stop me. About two miles later another coming the other way another sheriff or deputy stopped me, said my speed was 79. It wasn’t, when he turned on his lights, I looked, speed was still 72. He wouldn’t listen, said he had heard it all in his 26 years patrolling that highway. Didn’t want to irritate him by telling him I had been driving that road regularly for 30 years. Apparently they give tickets just to get cash, doesn’t matter how fast you drive, in Menard County they stop you and rob you behind their badge and ego.
