Crown Valley Parkway near Marguerite Parkway

Mission Viejo, CaliforniaJun 12, 20081 Comments

A motorized Mission Viejo cop sits on the right side of the Crown Valley Parkway exit from Ladera Ranch. People leaving Ladera Ranch are always lined up on the overly long signals on CVP at Marguerite. The MV cop tickets people coming out of Ladera in the morning. He sits in the parking lot where a laundromat and donut shop are. The guy hasn’t been there for the last few weeks because of the construction and road widening project that has been slowly occurring in the same place.

Comments:
The parking lot was put under construction in 2009. The Sheriff's motorcycle cop used to sit in the driveway harassing morning drivers from Ladera Ranch. He would sit in the driveway near the daycare and ticket people by making them pull into the shopping center. This officer would also pull the cars into the right lane, which is a turn lane onto Marguerite, and therefore blocking traffic. Another speed trap in the same location was a temporarily erected No U-Turn sign on the signal on southbound Marguerite. The owners of the shops in the center and their clients were upset with City of Mission Viejo. We called city and went to City Hall and told them to remove the No U-Turn sign. By the time the city removed the sign, they had ticketed scores of people. They literally put up the "No-U-Turn" sign on the signal on one day and were literally ticketing the next day. People had been going to this strip mall for their business and then the Sheriff's Dept. were harassing business clients. Now, some of the shops are out of business. Thanks OCSD and the City of Mission Viejo for the useless tickets of law-abiding people who didn't know the new sign was up because it was in the Identical location and looked the same! So, the "No-U-turn" sign came down, but not until some damage on the small businesses was done. Maybe if the cops were busier catching the crooks who robbed the liquor store instead of ticketing drivers out of Ladera Ranch, we'd get the streets safer???
